Ameren Illinois is bringing its Helping Heroes program to the area.
The program is designed to provide assistance to disabled veterans and their families. It will be held at the Rolland Lewis Community Building at Veterans Memorial Park at 800 South 27th Street in Mt. Vernon from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, June 22nd.
The first 100 attendees will receive a free Ameren Illinois storm preparedness kit.
Applications will be accepted for the Ameren Illinois Military Support Program which provides an energy grant up to $100 to assist with energy costs for qualified military and disabled veterans.
Customer Service Representatives will be available to answer questions regarding energy bills.
General information regarding eligible customer programs including Warm Neighbor Cool Friends and AIMS.
You’ll also be able to learn ways to save with energy efficiency tips, rebates, and incentives and receive a Free LED light bulb.
To apply for the Ameren Illinois Military Support Program, please bring a copy of your Department of Defense 214 (DD-214) form or discharge letter (must be honorably discharged) along with either a copy of your award letter if your disability is related to military service or a copy of your Social Security disability letter if your disability is not related to the military.
