The Class 1a State Baseball Trophy will be making the short trip up the Kin/Lou Blacktop 18 miles to its new home as the North Clay Cardinals became the 2nd straight National Trail Conference team to win the state championship knocking off Brown County 12-4 in the title game at Dozer Park in Peoria.   Collyn Ballard and Holden Clifton drove in 3 runs each with 2 RBI from Logan Fleener.  Layton Dawkins also drove in a run.  Holden Clifton was the winning pitcher going 5 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs with Carson Burkett going 2 innings.

Ottawa Marquette was the 3rd place winner over LeRoy 12-0 in five innings.

Columbia took 3rd place in the 2a state tournament with a 4-1 win over Maroa Forsyth in their final game.  Joliet Catholic was the state champs with a 12-3 win over Richmond Burton.

In 3a boys baseball sectional championships on Saturday, Triad shutout Mascoutah 6-0 to win the Troy Sectional.  They advance to today’s super Sectional at Millikin where they will play Chatham Glenwood after they won the Champaign Central Sectional 7-4 over Mahomet Seymour.

Edwardsville won the 4a Illinois Wesleyan Sectional over Minooka 10-0.  They will play again at Wesleyan today in the Super Sectionals against Plainfield North.
