2023 05/27 – Jake Vincent Cosgrove

Jake Vincent Cosgrove, formerly of Centralia, Illinois passed away at his home in Cape Coral, Florida on April 12, 2023.

Jake was born on August 26, 1987, at St. Mary’s Hospital and graduated from Centralia High School in 2006.  He went on to receive an Associate’s degree in Business from Kaskaskia College.

Jake had an adventurous spirit. He lived in and traveled to many places in his life. He loved the outdoors and spent time snowboarding and camping in the Rocky Mountains. In recent years, he lived and worked near the ocean. Music was an important part of Jake’s life. He played the guitar and composed original songs. He often attended music festivals. Keller Williams and The Grateful Dead were among his favorite artists. He was also a talented cook and Asian dishes were his specialties.  He had a passion for cinema as an art form and was very knowledgeable about movie production techniques. Jake particularly loved independent films made by A24. The movies Hereditary and Midsommar were among his favorites. Jake had an infectious smile and a gift for bringing humor into the world. He was clever, and witty and brought so much joy and laughter to everyone around him. A few of his favorite comedians were Joey Diaz, Bobby Lee and Theo Von.  His friends were very important to him and he remained close to many people from his childhood.

Jake was preceded in death by his father, Ted Cosgrove and his grandparents, Jim and Violet Condra and Arthur and Evelyn Cosgrove.

He is survived by his partner, Jaianna Grant; mother, Judie Cosgrove; brothers, Paul and Luke Cosgrove; Aunt, Jan Deakins; Uncles, Mike Cosgrove and Steve Condra; Cousins, Corrie

Bird, Mandy Bowers, Chris and Emily Condra, Shawn Cosgrove, and Kimberlee Cosgrove. He was blessed to have two “bonus” mothers, Kristina Willey and Dee Miller, and an abundance of close friends. Jake will also be missed by his pets, Syd and Catt.

A Celebration of Life is tentatively set for Saturday, May 27th, from 4-7 at Foundation Park in Centralia.
