In Junior League play at the Little League Complex last night, Elks improved to 3-1 with a 6-5 win over Peoples. Brayden Wood struck out 9 in the win. Landen Maxey earned the 2-inning save allowing no hits and struck out 2. At the plate, Anthony Wilborn went 2-3 with a drive to center, Jaret Gibson drove in 3 runs, Curt Sullens and Jaret Rushing both scored with Max Vincent and Tyree Wilborn adding hits. For Peoples, Aaden Rostance threw the complete game allowing just 5 hits. Cam Carmichael went 2-3 with an RBI double, Keytin Grawe scored twice, Rostance and Nolan Thompson both scored.
In softball Majors it was Dairy Queen beating Bandy’s 9-5. Ziva Owens came up big with 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI. Jorja English had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Addy Branson added 2 hits and a RBI, Tinsley Larson 2 RBI on 2 hits as well. Alaigha Hughes and Grayce Rose each had a hit, run and RBI. In the loss, Kara Patton, Penelope Flanagan, Lilliana Meyers and Bailey Benzschawel had RBI. Ella Lee and Breana Pennypacker added hits.
Modern Woodmen beat Marion County Savings Bank 12-6. In the win, Raegan Shuler had a double, Emily Jones also doubled with a triple from Willow Amburgee. In the loss, Bria Murray struck out 9.
In boys Minors, Kert Martin State Farm beat Squibb Tank 8-6 in extra innings. State Farm had outstanding pitching performances from Brooks Heinzmann and Ben Lux. Ben Skibinski had 4 doubles and 2 RBI, Lux had 2 hits and 2 RBI.
Country Financial beat Sager Insurance 9-2. For Financial, Greyson James, Levi Knapp and Benson Orrill were 3-3 with 2 runs scored. Reed Knapp added 2 hits with 2 runs. Ryder Gambill had a pair of doubles and Payton Etnier was 2-2.
Security Alarm beat Crouse Funeral Home 7-0. Emit Gibson had 3 hits including a double, triple and home run as he drove in 4. Devan Jennings added 2 RBI and Jacob Butts also drove in a run.
