A 26-year-old Mt. Vernon man already in the Jefferson County Jail for aggravated domestic battery now faces 10 new Class X felony charge of possession/reproduction of child pornography with a victim under 13.
Zachary Terry had bond set at $600,000 during his first appearance in court on the new charges Friday. The public defender was appointed to represent him.
Mt. Vernon Police originally arrested Terry after responding to a domestic violence complaint at a home in the 200 block of Second Street. His bond at that time was set at $25.000 for aggravated domestic battery and a petition to revoke his probation on a previous unlawful possession of methamphetamine conviction on May 12th.
During the investigation, items possibly involving possession of child pornography were recovered.
Mt. Vernon officers requested the assistance of Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Detectives assigned to the Department of Homeland Security Cybercrimes Task Force. Evidence was collected and forensically examined. The result was on May 18th, Tate had the child pornography charge added.
