Mable Vaughn, 83, of Centralia, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at St. Louis University Hospital surrounded by her family.She was born December 4, 1939, in Centralia, the daughter of George Washington Huffman and Beulah Viola (Miller) Huffman. She married John H. Vaughn in Centralia on March 17, 1956, and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2020.Mable is survived by her five children: Danny Joe Vaughn of Centralia, Bob Vaughn and wife Michele of Centralia, Nancy Candler and fiance Steve Lucking of Centralia, John A. Vaughn and wife Colleen of New Jersey, and Tony L. Vaughn and wife Karen of Springfield, Missouri; 18 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren; one brother: Eugene Huffman of Greenwood, IN; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents George and Beulah Huffman; husband John Vaughn; son: George Vaughn; and sister-in-law: Shirley Huffman.Mable was a member of Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing Yahtzee. She loved to cook for family get-togethers and enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. Mable was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.Per Mable’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home on Thursday morning. In memory of Mable, memorial donations may be made to the Red Cross and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Vaughn Family.
