Demetra June (Anglen) Wagoner, age 81 of Iuka, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at her home.
June was born on July 19, 1941, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Denver Bud and Juanita (Zinke) Anglen Smith. She married Russell “Cotton” Wagoner on December 21, 1960, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her two sons, Dale Eugene Wagoner and Gary Lee Wagoner and wife Dedra; two sisters, Sue (Anglen) Nelson-Arrowsmith and Jeannie (Anglen) Blair; three brothers, Rick Anglen and wife Marty, John Mike Anglen and wife Paula, and Dwain Eugene Smith and wife Vera; grandchildren, Brian Erwin Woodward, Jesse Eugene Wagoner, and wife Melissa, Nathan Eugene Wagoner, Elizabeth Mae Wagoner, Garrett Jacob Wagoner, and Audrey Leeann Wagoner; and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, Bethanie, Jesseneth, Gauge, Hunter, Parker, Adryanna, Addaline, Issac, and Avery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her stepfather, Darrell Smith; and her stepmother, Esther Anglen.
June worked various jobs throughout the years, including Walgreens, Salem Hospital, Sweeneys Drug Store, the Kinmundy Grade School, and Kaskaskia College.
Graveside services for Demetra June Wagoner and her late husband Russell “Cotton” Wagoner will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Elder Cemetery in Kinmundy with Rusty Courson officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 until the time of the service at the cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem which is assisting the family with arrangements.
