Selmaville Grade School Superintendent Robin Brooks has been named the 2022 Superintendent of Distinction by his colleagues in the Kaskaskia Region of the Illinois Association of School Administrators.
Brooks was honored at an awards luncheon on Wednesday in Springfield. State Superintendent Dr. Carmen Ayala was the featured speaker at the lunch where a Superintendent from each of the 21 regions around the state were honored with the award.
Brooks says it is a great honor to be selected by his colleagues for the honor because there are many extraordinary leaders within the Kaskaskia Region which covers a six-county area. Brooks is retiring at the end of the school year after 19 years as Superintendent at Selmaville capping a 33-year career in education. Brooks says he is grateful for the relationships he has formed with educators, staff, students, and the Selmaville community along the way.
Those nominating Brooks noted a number of successes during his tenure including:
- Oversaw a 27,000-square foot addition to the Selmaville CCSD #10 school building.
- Integrated technology into the classroom which included a 1:1 computing initiative.
- Spearheaded the development of the school website.
- Oversaw the start of the district’s preschool program.
- Served on various local boards such as the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce board of directors and Kaskaskia College Sports Association Board.
IASA Executive Director Dr. Brent Clark noted superintendents across Illinois navigated immense challenges this school year, so it really is an honor to stand out and be recognized by your peers for outstanding leadership and elevating student success.
