The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a one-vehicle crash in the 1800 block of Yards Road about three miles north of Salem that broke a natural gas line.
Initial reports indicate the driver had left the vehicle but was later located, He was not hurt. He apparently lost control, ran off the road, and struck the natural gas line.
The roadway had to be closed for more than five hours after the crash around four am until the gas service could be repaired.
The Salem Fire Protection District was called to assist until the gas company arrived.
