Norma Laverne Kniffen, 91, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:28 am on April 20, 2023, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mount Vernon.
She was born February 21, 1932, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Rowdy and Margaret (Kniffen) Bain. Norma married Orley Kniffen on June 12, 1948. They were blessed with forty years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 15, 1988.
Norma is survived by her sons, David Kniffen and wife, Leslie and Randy Kniffen and wife, Laura; grandchildren, Wesley Kniffen, Derek Kniffen and wife, Kristi, Holly Lang and husband, Greg, Megan Dietrich and husband, David; great-grandchildren, Miles Lang, Owen Lang, McKinley Kniffen, Emersyn Kniffen, Drake Kniffen; sister, Lora Lee Duncan; and several nieces and nephews including Steve Duncan and Sandi Anderson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, James Duncan.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Brad Ryan officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Norma’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
