Wildcats Fall At St Anthony, Head To Mater Dei This Afternoon

The Salem Wildcats stayed in it until the end, but St Anthony scored 4 times in the bottom of the sixth inning to knock off the Wildcats 4-1.  The big blow was a 3-run homer off the bat of Mendella off starter and losing pitcher for the Cats Griffin Day.  He scattered 7 hits and struck out 2 in his six innings of work.  Josh Powless scored the lone Salem run in the 2nd inning that gave the Cats the lead until the sixth.  Salem got the RBI from Brogan Gregg with hits also from Isaak Williams, Charlie Hunter and Griffin Day.  Salem returns to play today at Breese to take on Mater Dei before hosting Lawrenceville for a double header tomorrow.

The North Clay Cardinals knocked off Charleston 6-2.  Collyn Ballard went 2-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored for the Cardinals.  Donnie Zimmerman added an RBI.  Logan Fleener scored along with Dakota Weidner.  Zimmerman got the win going 5 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run, none earned.  Bryton Griffy earned the 2 inning save.

Altamont short-gamed CHBC 10-0 in six innings.

The SC Cougars return to baseball action today at Flora.
