2023 04/22 – Ada ‘Ruth’ (Quick) Wilbur

Ada “Ruth” (Quick) Wilbur, of Woodlawn, passed away on April 13th, 2023 at home with her family by her side.

She was born on April 25th, 1936 to Wilson and Goldie (Yardley) Quick. She married Ray Wilbur on March 30th, 1974 in Jeffersonville, Indiana.Ruth is survived by her husband Ray Wilbur, sons Steve and wife Myrna Speiser of Odin, Mike and wife Lisa Speiser of Sandoval, and Randy and wife Carol Speiser of Centralia; daughter Carol and husband Doug Sellers of Salem; Step-son Gary Wilbur and significant other Linda Swan of Mt. Vernon; step-daughter Mary Willis and husband Kelly of Spring Hill, Tennessee; brother Gary and wife Ruth Ann Quick of Centralia; sister-in-law Mary Quick of Odin; several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Larry Quick, Leroy Quick, and Bill Quick; sisters Anna and husband Darrell Speiser, and Delores Stein, granddaughter: Drew Willis, and twin infant great-grandsons.Ruth worked in hospitality management for many years, training future managers for motels, and managing motels and apartments before retiring. She was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church for many years. She loved spending time reading and traveling. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and spending time with her family.Per Ruth’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held on April 22, 2023, at 11 am at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia, Illinois. Visitation will be held 10 am until the time of service at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523 who is honored to be of service to the Wilbur family.
