Salem Fire Protection District officials say a fire started by a welder coming into contact with about a half gallon of spilled gasoline started a small fire in a machine shed.
Firemen say the fire at the Raymond Clayton residence in the 1300 block of South College was mostly out on arrival. A tool bag and other miscellaneous items were damaged. There were no injuries.
The fire call came in at 2:30 Thursday morning with firemen on the scene for about a half hour.
