Shawn A. Reichenbach, 58, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, peacefully at his home.
He was born on April 4, 1965, in Centralia to John Reichenbach and Judith (Lance) McIntire. He was loved and raised by his father, Steve McIntire.
Shawn is survived by his two daughters: Corlin Reichenbach of Edwardsville and Josie Reichenbach of Litchfield; one grandson: John; two sisters: Angela Allen of Centralia and Lisa Thompson and Jim of Georgia; two brothers: Tim Bryant of Georgia and Ron Bryant of Georgia; a niece and several nephews: Brandon Allen, Jace Zimmerman, Cole Tucker, Dylon Zimmerman, Nathan, and Trent Thompson; his father John; aunt: Barbara Reichenbach Beaumont of Chicago; partner and caregiver Melissa Wheritt and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Judith and Steve McIntire, a nephew: Nicholas Joel Allen, and a niece: Emily Thompson.
Shawn graduated from Centralia High School in 1983 where his athleticism shined and he set records for Cross Country. He continued an active lifestyle into young adulthood and traveled while modeling. Often lighthearted, Shawn’s serious side took precedence while he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. His accomplishments in the military include time spent in Desert Storm, where Shawn’s valiant efforts overseas earned him the honorable accolades of Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart.
Behind his veteran status, Shawn’s pride stemmed from his family. He cherished time making memories with family and friends.
Shawn spent time employed as a construction manager for local unions and was always eager to point out a building he’d helped come to fruition. Holding a special bond with his pets, Shawn always had a dog by his side. He never faced a home improvement project that he couldn’t tackle and enjoyed carpentry in his free time. Shawn was an avid golfer and Chicago Bears fan. Semper Fidelis.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 21, 2023, at 12:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055. Visitation will be held Friday, April 21, 2023, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
