Rick W. Skibinski, 64, of Ashley, Illinois, passed away on April 17, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.

He was born November 10, 1958, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Ervin and Arlene (Newman) Skibinski. Rick married Cheryl (Cassity) Skibinski on February 17, 1979.

In addition to his beloved wife of forty-four years and mother, Rick is survived by his son, Jake Skibinski and wife, Tasha of Salem, Illinois; daughter, Sara Lamczyk and husband, Eric of Dubois, Illinois; grandchildren, Hazel Lamczyk, Paisley Lamczyk, Eli Lamczyk, Ben Skibinski, and Violet Skibinski; sisters, Peggy Smith and husband, Scott of Richview, Illinois and Shirley Rollie of Woodlawn, Illinois; mother-in-law, Marry Holtz; father-in-law, William Cassity; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terri Cassity, Carla Christian and husband, Gregg, Brian Cassity and wife, Beth, Richard Holtz and wife, Ardy, Paula Shoemaker, Bonnie Witges, Marcia Finkbone and husband, Mike, and Mark Heiholzer; and several nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Ervine Skibinski; father-in-law, Leo Holtz; step-mother-in-law, Ruby Cassity; brothers-in-law, Clarence Witges and Kevin Rollie; sister, Vicky Breeze; sister-in-law, Gail Heiholzer; and nephew, Noah Heirholzer.

Rick worked in maintenance at DuBois Center Christian Camp and finished his career as the head custodian at Woodlawn Grade School. He also farmed for over fifty years. Rick loved spending time with his grandkids, wife, and kids. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, and spending time at the river. Rick loved his animals especially, his horses, dogs, and chickens. He was known for his sweet kind-hearted personality who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Mr. Rick as he was known, was loved by many and will be missed.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller, Illinois.
