Illinois to make assistance available to homeowners impacted by COVID-19

Homeowners affected by COVID-19 can now apply for housing assistance.

Illinois Housing Development Authority spokesperson Amy Lee says qualifying homeowners can get up to 30-thousand dollars in grant money to pay for a number of things.

Lee says, “The grants can be used to pay delinquent mortgage payments. It can pay for a mortgage reinstatement or other housing-related costs relating to a period of forbearance. It can go to delinquent property taxes or delinquent homeowners insurance or flood insurance.”

A total of $309-million in assistance will be available.  Applications will be accepted through May 31st. You can bring the process online at: illinoishousinghelp.org
