David Arthur Mooney, 69, of Dix, Illinois, passed away at 12:07 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born October 6, 1953, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the son of Loyd and Leona (Keen) Mooney. He worked for Rockwell International and later worked at Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon from February 1977 until May 1989. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing the lottery.
David is survived by two sons, Brian Mooney of Mt. Vernon, and Brad Mooney and friend Christina Cole of Dix; grandchildren, Garrett Mooney and Jackson Mooney; brothers, Bill Mooney and wife Gayla of Centralia, Dwight Mooney and wife Mary of Dix, and Charles Mooney and wife Bobbi of Georgetown, Texas; sisters, Loretta Joyce Spencer of Newburg, Indiana, and Barbara Atchison and husband Bradley of Dix; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Cynthia Mooney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Bill Spencer.
Funeral services for Mr. Mooney will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, at Osborn Funeral Home, in Dix, with Greg Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2023, from 11:00 a.m., until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
