A 40-year-old Dieterich woman faces a felony aggravated fleeing and eluding police charge and multiple traffic citations after leading Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies on a lengthy high-speed chase late Friday morning.
Deputies say Carla Segarra of East Maple told them she fled because she thought she was wanted on a warrant, which turned out not to be the case.
A deputy first tried to complete a traffic stop at US 50 and 51 in Sandoval when she fled southbound into Central City. After briefly losing the suspect, police relocated her and the chase headed back north on U.S.51 through Sandoval to the Fairman Road area. Segarra reportedly lost control when trying to slow for a curve and ran off the road into the ditch. She was not injured and was taken into custody without further incident.
Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by Central City and Centralia Police during the chase that reached about 100 miles an hour around noon Friday.
Segarra was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges.
