Wamac Mayor Butch Mathis, Jr. says everything is ready for the 12th Annual Centralia area Easter Egg Hunt that will take place at one Sunday afternoon at the Wamac Park.
Mathis is extremely happy that they will be able to return to the in-person egg hunt.
“We will have 3 divisions and tickets for boys and girls from 0-4, 5-8 and 9-12. There will be doing the drawings after the hunt and have some special prizes as well. I got to give a tip of the hat to all the businesses, individuals and civic organizations that helped make this possible.”
And Mathis says that includes donating a lot of prizes for the kids.
“We have a lot of wonderful bikes and home made Easter baskets and a lot of hard work. We have about 700 gift bags to give out to every child. I want to make sure every child whether they win a prize or not, to leave with something. And the most important thing I want them to leave with is happy memories.”
Mathis is encouraging kids to arrive by 12:30 so they are registered and ready to go for the hunts that begin at one Sunday afternoon.
The in-person hunt hasn’t been possible the past two years due to COVID-19 restrictions.
