Marion County Board Building Committee Chair Dr. Creighton Engle says slow arriving materials needed for major renovation work at the Marion County Courthouse, Public Service Building and Law Enforcement Center are delaying the start of the projects.
Engel provided an update after Tuesday night’s county board meeting.
“We’re looking prospectively know of starting on the Public Service Building probably by the first of next month. The jail doors and bathrooms at the courthouse should start next month or the first of June.”
Engel plans to approach Tesla for some Turbo Super Charger stations for electric vehicles if the county is successful in getting a state grant to develop a county parking lot in the 200 block of North Broadway. He notes Tesla has installed about 10,000 of the charging stations around the country.
Engel reported the county’s website should be ready to go online in the very near future. The county’s dot-gov e-mail address has now been approved, a program to submit a freedom of information requests is completed, and data on county board members have been uploaded. Meeting minutes and agendas are currently being added.
The board also made three appointments:
- Don Decker was reappointed to the Odin Fire District Trustees
- Robert Angles of Centralia was appointed to the Old Covenanter Cemetery Association.
- Larry Clark was reappointed to serve on the Salem Fire Protection District Board of Trustees.
