Penny Karlene Stuber Helm, 58, of Iuka, passed away Wednesday, April 5th, at her home.

She was born December 18, 1964, in Salem, the daughter of Ronald Wayne and Clara Catherine (Quarterman) Stuber.

Penny owned and operated Penny’s Café in Iuka for almost 30 years. She enjoyed serving and visiting with all the people who supported the café over the years and working with her brother Jeff 7 days a week for many years. She also served on the Iuka Village Board for several years. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved riding the golf cart around with her grandkids, sitting on her porch drinking coffee, and cheering the St. Louis Cardinals on.

Penny is survived by her husband Kenneth Helm of Iuka; Daughters, Chandra Hunter and husband Roger of Iuka, and Amber and Matthew of Centralia; Sons, Shane Prosise and significant other Samantha Wood of Iuka, and Klayton Helm and significant other Brittini Chambers of Salem; Grandchildren, Garrett and Maybree Hunter, Brooklyn Helm, Matthew and Chloe Winkler, and baby boy Prosise on the way; Mother-in-Law, Linda Helm of Iuka; Sister, Gay Ann Walker of Centralia; Uncle, Tony Stuber; Aunt, Irene Sutherland & daughters; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends from the café.

Penny was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents, Wayne and Kathy Stuber of Iuka; Father-in-law, Kenneth Ray Helm; Uncle, Bob Stuber; her brother and best friend Jeffery Stuber; Son, Kenneth Ray Helm ll; and many aunts and uncles.

Per Penny’s wishes she will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Larry Albert officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, April 10, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with medical expenses, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
