Daniel Spotanski passed away on April 2, 2023, at 9:00 am at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Daniel was born on February 1, 1931. Daniel married Esther Czerniejewski on February 3, 1951, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Scheller, Illinois. He is the son of the late Paul and Ann (Surina) Spotanski. He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence; daughter, Karla; and son, Jeffrey.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; two daughters, Yvonne Grove and husband, Jerry of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Julie Klamm and husband, Deron of Tamaroa, Illinois; and two granddaughters, Erin Joy Klamm and Jenna Rose Klamm.
Daniel was on the Blue Cross and Blue Shield H.I.A. Committee and the Blissville township supervisor. Daniel also served as District Deputy and Grand Knight at DuBois, Illinois, Knights of Columbus Council 4476.
Daniel worked as maintenance of equipment at the Ashley Candy Factory and owned and operated his dairy farm. He was a master at carpentry, heating, electricity, and plumbing for the local community.
He loved his cattle and fox hounds and enjoyed his coyote hunting with hunting friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller, Illinois with Father Nick Junker officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in DuBois, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Charles Cemetery of the charity of your choice.
