A man being sought in connection with the murder of two sisters at a rural Collinsville home who was shot after pulling a gun on an Illinois State Police State Trooper has died from his injuries.

Investigators with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis at a Sunday afternoon news conference identified the man as Adam Cobb.   The two homicide victims were identified as Cobb’s former girlfriend Jamie Joyner who was moving out on Saturday morning and her sister, Jessica Joyner, who had flown in from California to help.  The two sisters were found lying on the lawn of the home when Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call about a disturbance.  They also found a dog that had been shot and killed in the home.

The State Police Division of Internal Investigation reports Cobb was shot on Saturday afternoon during a lengthy police chase from near Hillsboro to US 51 north of Pana.   Cobb reportedly pulled a gun on the trooper after his car came to a stop after being partially disabled.  A 26-year-veteran of State Police shot toward the alleged suspect who sustained a life-threatening injury.   Cobb reportedly died from his injuries in the hospital at 4:40 Sunday morning.

State Police say the investigation into the officer shooting is open and ongoing.  All evidence and facts will be submitted for review upon completion of the Investigation to the Christian County State’s Attorney’s office.
