A 35-year-old Centralia man has been taken into custody after a federal search warrant was executed on his home Friday morning.
Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says Deandre Owens of 437 Bicknell Street was also wanted on a federal arrest warrant. He was arrested without incident.
The warrants are in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation inside the city of Centralia. An FBI Swat Team executed the search warrant around six Friday morning in conjunction with the Centralia Police Department.
Dodson says that during the search of the resident, law enforcement seized a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine.
The FBI Drug Task Force includes agents from the Fairview Heights FBI office, officers from the Carlyle Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Salem Police Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Bond County Sheriff’s Department, and the Centralia Police Department.
Further information on exact charges and other details of the operation will be made by the US Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois at a future date.
