The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death of a 38-year-old Okawville man who was found dead in a home Sunday after barricading himself inside a bedroom.
Robert Jarden apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Okawville Police had sought assistance with the reported suicidal male who was trespassing when he entered the home of a family member. For several hours, ISP Crisis Negotiators unsuccessfully attempted to resolve the situation peacefully by speaking with the man. When troopers were able to enter the bedroom, Jarden was found dead.
DCI reports the investigation into the death is open and ongoing.
