Lila Faye Lewis, age 89 of Salem, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
Lila was born on December 23, 1933, in Patoka, the daughter of Alfred and Helen (Caldwell) Donoho. She married Kerroll Oscar Hays in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1956, she later married Chester Lee Lewis in 1961 and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her three sons, Kerroll Edgar “Ed” Hays Sr. and wife Deb of Salem, Mark Stephen Hays and wife Karen of Ada, MI, and Jon Hays of Salem; one step-son, Donald Lee Lewis of Forest City, AR; seven grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Billy Joe Headley of Salem.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Donoho; mother, Helen Peddicord; step-father, Kenny Peddicord; husbands, Kerroll Oscar Hays and Chester Lee Lewis; and siblings, Loren Donoho, Delilah Hays, Patricia Rotemeyer, Alice Bringle, James Headley, and Janice Sullens.
Lila was a faithful member of Harvey’s Point Christian Church in Kell. She worked as a beautician, for Brown Shoe Company, for her brother Loren, at the Starlight Restaurant, and as a dietician for Cherry Creek Nursing Home.
Funeral Services for Lila Faye Lewis will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 10:30 am at Harvey’s Point Christian Church in Kell with Steve Bratton officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
