Centralia High School Board sets graduation and last day of school

The Centralia High School Board of Education Thursday night has set graduation and the last day of school. Graduation will be held on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m. and the last day of school for students will be May 20th. A teacher’s institute will close the school year on May 23rd.

The board was told a number of other end-of-school-year events have also been set. Prom is scheduled for April 23. The IHSA Band and Choir event April 8 and 9; PSAT/SAT/Senior Career Fair April 13; Spring Break April 14 through 18; and National Honor Society induction April 27.

In other action the board:

Approved the annual IHSA agreement; moved to spend $12,815 for replacement of fire safety equipment; changed the April board meeting from 7 to 5 p.m. April 28; and approved the 2022-23 school calendar.  The school year for students will start on August 17th.  There will be a two-week Christmas break from December 22nd through January 4th.   There is a four-day spring break.

Moved to employ: Ben Alli as a full-time annex security guard effective March 16, 2022; Isaac Wright as a full-time annex aide effective March 16, 2022; Ikenya Margrum as a full-time annex aide effective April 4, 2022; Callie Jackson as a volunteer assistant girls’ softball coach for the 2021-2022 school year; Lundyn Waith as assistant girls’ soccer coach for the 2021-2022 school year; and Gregory Graves as full-time annex aide effective April 7, 2022.
