2023 03/22 – Scott Winston Hanks

Scott Winston Hanks, 87, of Sandoval passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, at Aperion Health Care in Fairfield, with his family by his side. He was born on November 7, 1935, the son of Merle and Mary Elizabeth (Hanna) Hanks in Kinmundy.

Survivors include his beloved family, daughters, Vic (Bill) Goodspeed of Centralia, Penny (Mike) Bryan of Centralia, and Melissa Hanks of Centralia; sons, Tim (Gayle) Hanks of Cabot, Arkansas, Steve (Carla) Hanks of Yalaha, Florida, Scott (Dawn) Hanks of Odin, and Wesley Hanks of Centralia; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brothers, David Hanks of Sandoval, and Mark (Linda) Hanks of Pinckneyville; sisters, Carlin Thomas of Sandoval, Joann (Gerald) Logue of East Peoria, and Marilyn (Joe) Blankenship of Elmwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Terry Hanks; and his sister Roberta Carpenter.

Scott was truly dedicated to his work as an employee of the Village of Sandoval, where he was proud to give his all for his community, until retiring at age 82. Scott was a member of the Sandoval Baptist Church and a volunteer fireman at the Sandoval Fire Department for many years. He was a generous man, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was down-to-earth and easygoing and enjoyed socializing with friends and family.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and no public service will be held. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Sandoval Fire Department and will be accepted for the family at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval.
