Governor JB Pritzker is announcing a new Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative.

The goal is to really look at what services are available to families and how to make the process easier for parents dealing with their children’s various behavioral health needs.

The effort will be led by child welfare expert Dana Weiner (WINE-er) and involves several state agencies.

Weiner said, “What we need is an intentional, coordinated strategy to get families the help they need for kids who are struggling. Our current system is difficult to navigate and does not provide families with consistent, transparent solutions to the challenges they face.”

A blueprint for transforming the system will be released at the end of the year.
