Salem Firemen were called to handle two fires on Thursday that spread out of control.
Firemen say a small trash fire spread out of control at a home in the 500 block of East Mitchell Street and traveled across some back yards before it spread into a tree and then got close enough to melt siding to a small area of the Ryan Decker home on South Hamilton Street before being put out.
Earlier in the afternoon, firemen were called to a home in the 2800 block of Lazy Acre Road south of Salem to put out a grass fire that covered about five acres. The fire had spread from a burn off of set-a-side land on the neighboring property owned by Anthony Pacewic.
