The Centralia City Council has unanimously voted to create a task force to look at the proposed new $25-million water treatment plant before moving forward with the final plans.
Councilman Robert “Spanky” Smith asked for the contract with Curry and Associates to once again be tabled and then proposed the task force.
“We want to do our due diligence. That is a big undertaking. Not only monetarily but the site, where it needs to be built. We just want to get another set of eyes on it and get a couple other bids and see what else is out there. We know EFI is sort of in the water moving business and we would like to get with them and see what ideas they have and get some direction.”
Smith expects the names selected to be on the task force will be announced by the end of the week. He thinks the task force can complete its work and make recommendations in one to two months.
