A 70-year-old Ontario, Canada truck driver was injured when his rig left northbound I-57 just south of the Kinoka Road interchange near Kinmundy early Wednesday morning.
Kinmundy-Alma Fire Chief Kevin Day says the driver ran into a wooded section of the median and struck a large tree head on. The driver was out of the truck on the fire department’s arrival. The Kinmundy-Alma ambulance transported the driver to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries that possibly included a broken leg. Day says the truck stayed upright and the produce being hauled in the trailer was not impacted.
The crash occurred at 3:14 Wednesday morning.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies and State Police were also on the scene. State Police are handling the crash report, but it has not yet been released.
