Helen Delane Richardson, 95, of Centralia passed away on February 27, 2023, in St. Louis, MO with her family by her side.
Delane was born on November 3, 1927, to Charles Scharnhorst and Bertha (Applegate) Scharnhorst. She married Dwight N. Richardson on January 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2017.
She is survived by three sons: Dariel Richardson and wife Susan of Rochester IL, Donald Richardson and wife Karen of Centralia, and Randal Richardson and wife Gina of Carlyle; ten grandchildren: Tina Bax, Michele Suerdieck, Dariel Richardson Jr., Daniel Richardson, David Richardson, Scot Richardson, Alan Richardson, Jason Richardson, Ryan Richardson, and Kristen Richardson; 22 great-grandchildren; brother Robert ‘Bob’ Scharnhorst and wife Janice of Cold Spring, IL; sister-in-law Colleen Scharnhorst of Salem.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Randal Richardson Jr., brother Thomas Scharnhorst, and sister Charlene Scharnhorst.
Delane enjoyed teaching Sunday school and did so for 65 years. Her favorite pass time was making candy, especially Divinity. For over 15 years, she participated in the Linus Project, helping make quilts for children in hospitals in the area. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services for Helen Delane Richardson will be held Monday, March 6, 2023, at 12:30 pm at Foundation Church in Centralia with Rev. Jeremy Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the church Monday morning.
