A Central City eighth grade student has advanced to the state finals of the MATHCOUNTS competition on Friday.
Aurora Amason was one of only 178 students of 1,053 participants to advance from the local MATHCOUNTS competitions.
MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide middle school mathematics competition. The competition is divided into four stages: school, chapter, state, and national. At each level of competition, the math problems increase in difficulty starting with the school level of competition and advancing up to the national finals. The top teams and individuals from each local chapter earn spots that allow them to advance to the state competition.
Aurora is a High Honor Roll Student and she is also a member of the Central City Cross-Country, Scholar Bowl and Track Teams. Aurora is the daughter of Jared and Erin Amason.
