A home northwest of Dix received moderate damage in an early Wednesday morning fire.
Jefferson Fire Protection District firemen say the James Burnes family at 8706 East Campbell Road woke up to find an electrical panel inside the house on fire. A few minutes later they reported the home was filling with smoke.
Members of the family were out by the time the firemen arrived.
Fire reports indicate the fire eventually burned through a window and then damaged a front corner of the home.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The fire call came in at 4:50 Wednesday morning. They remained on the scene until around eight am. Kell and Mt. Vernon Firemen provided mutual aid at the scene. A few other departments helped to man the Jefferson Fire Protection District in the event of another fire.
