Linda Sue (Duncan) Fitzgerrell, 85, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
She was born June 15, 1937, in Jefferson County, Illinois, the daughter of Harley Russell and Helen Aline (Wimberly) Duncan. She married Howard Richard Fitzgerrell on May 15, 1956, and they later divorced.
She attended Dix Grade School, Centralia High School, and graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, and after moving to Florida, was a member of Aloma Baptist Church in Winter Park, Florida.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). She was an avid fan of Southern Gospel Music and worked for over 30 years in the Natural Gas industry.
Linda will be remembered as an inspiration and example to many, including generations of the Duncan family, her classmates, fellow church members, and professional peers, among all the others she left a favorable impression. We will all remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, and her love for life. She made a difference in the lives of many. We wish her a safe journey to Heaven and all the heavenly rewards she so justly deserves.
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Fitzgerrell Jones and husband Eric of St. Petersburg, Florida; two grandchildren, Evan Reese Jones and Garrett Braden Jones; and sister, Mary Lee Threatt.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Jay Fitzgerrell; grandson, Cole Richard Jones; and sisters, Dolores Ann Chichester and Gloria Jean “Jackie” Diel; and parents.
Funeral services for Linda will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Her family will host a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2023 at the funeral home.
