2023 02/21 – Laura Rose Smith

Laura Rose Smith, 35, entered into Heaven and the presence of our savior on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Laura was born on December 28, 1987, in Evanston, IL. the daughter of Dr. Samuel M. Smith Jr. and Linda Lea (Barnes) Smith.

Laura is survived by her parents, Dr. Samuel and Linda Smith of Irvington; her sister Rachel Smith of Irvington; her aunt Lisa Knipfel and her husband Kevin of Jonesburg, MO.; two cousins Kayla Knipfel, and Ryan Knipfel both of Kansas City, MO., great-aunt Joann Barnes of St. Charles, MO; great-uncle Melvin Blaue of St. Charles, MO; and a step-grandfather, Ed Carline of Montgomery City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Samuel M. and Zina M. Smith, Fred Marvin Barnes and Jeanette Rose (Blaue) Barnes Carline.

Laura was a graduate of Centralia High School. She was baptized into the faith at Temple Baptist Church. Laura resided at Cardinal House in Woodlawn, IL, and worked at Comprehensive Connections. Laura loved the “Little Mermaid” and the “Lion King” and would play the “Circle of Life” song repeatedly. Laura was cheerful, and sweet and would love to wave hello to people.

Laura will be keeping the Circle of Life going by being an organ and tissue donor.

Memorials may be made to the Centralia Humane Society because Laura loved the family pets or to Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the church Pastor Nathan Wollenberg officiating.
