Laura Belle Leffler, 86, of Kell, Illinois, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 3:00 am on February 14, 2023, at home with her family by her side.
She was born May 17, 1936, in Mount Vernon to the late Fred and Clara “Pearl” (Robinson) Bain. Laura married Charles William Leffler on October 7, 1958, in Salem, Illinois. He preceded her in death in July 1972.
Laura is survived by her sons, Norman “Gene” Leffler of Benton, Illinois, William “Bill” (Shari) Leffler, and Ray Allen Leffler, all of Mount Vernon; daughter, Connie S. (Willis) Hicks of Dix, Illinois; special granddaughter and caregiver, Crystal “Crissy” (Michael) Hocking of Kell; granddaughters, Katlin (Dakota) Rivera of Mount Vernon, Nichole Moore of West Frankfort, Illinois, Kylie Leffler of Centralia, Illinois, and Stephanie Leffler of Brunswick, Georgia; grandsons, John Leffler Jeff Leffler, and Michael Leffler, all of Mount Vernon; brother, Hugh “Tuti” Bain of Rotunda West, Florida; sister, Ueldean Cralley of Centralia; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Laura was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Wright; five brothers; and two sisters.
Per her wishes, Laura will be cremated and an inurnment will take place at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spero Family Services or Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Iuka, Illinois.
