Shirley Nadine Moyer, 80, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:40 am February 5, 2023, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
She was born September 7, 1942, in Olive Branch, Illinois to the late James Harvey and Juanita R. (Johnson) Browning. Shirley first married Billy Ray Bradford in 1958. During their marriage, they had six kids and he preceded her in death. Shirley married Ronnie Lee Moyer on December 21, 1981, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly forty years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 1, 2021.
Shirley is survived by her children, Patty Thornhill and husband, Brad of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Lisa Bradford of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Billy Ray Bradford of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Lori Curless of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jodi Story and husband, Todd of Ina, Illinois, Anita Bradford of Mount Vernon, Illinois; stepdaughters, LeeAnn, Heather, Carrie, Katy, and Melissa; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her grandson, Toby; granddaughters, Andrea and LaVella Bradford; sisters, Pat Hudgens, Jean Ann Howell, and Sandra Banes; brother, Dan Browning; and daughter-in-law, Carol Bradford.
Shirley ran her own restaurant and clothing store. She was a talented artist and enjoyed crafting. Alongside her husband, Ronnie, Shirley owned and operated Moyer’s Recycling in Mount Vernon. She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Temple. Nancy was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Mount Vernon Baptist Temple in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Tim Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
