The first Battle of the Badges Blood Drive in Centralia on Friday soared over its goal.
Centralia Police Department School Resource Officer Tiana Barbee says they ended up with 88 units of blood donated. That’s more than double the 40 unit goal. Barbee had announced Thursday they had already passed that goal with those who had appointments to give blood. She reported there were people waiting to give blood during most of the six hour blood drive.
Barbee says State Police won the battle of the badges that also included the Centralia Police and Fire Departments.
Those giving blood were treated to a meal prepared by the American Legion. Dan’s Meat Market supplied the food.
There will be at least two more battle of the badges blood drives in February and March.
The special drives were set up to address the region’s critical need for blood.
