Ruth Alice Chance (nee Kagy) age 81of Shorewood, Illinois, formerly of Salem, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2022.sutherlandfuneralhome.com
She is survived by her son Scott Chance, daughter-in-law Suzette Chance, her grand dog Chiefy, and a fond Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Neil Chance. Ruth was born April 7, 1941, in Breese, IL, the daughter of Lester and Alice (nee Haig) Kagy, and they preceded her in death. She graduated from Salem High School and married Neil Chance her high school sweetheart. Ruth had many interests. She was a beautician, church secretary, master gardener, an avid reader, a pink lady hospital volunteer, loved to do crafts, and loved animals, especially her dogs and grand dogs. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 28, 2023, in the chapel of Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home with Rev. Christine Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. The family invites you to a time of visitation from 11:00 am until the service hour in the chapel of Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home.
