Jim Venters, 82, of Salem, Illinois formerly of Odin passed away on January 12, 2023, at Carlyle Healthcare with family at his side.sutherlandfuneralhome.com Jim will be fondly remembered as a very committed EMT transporting patients by ambulance offering courtesy, concern, and care for each individual involved. He faithfully served his country in both the Marine Corps and the U. S. Army in Viet Nam. He was married to Dorothy Alice Bumgarner and she preceded him in death. He later married Linda Sue Travis Burgess, on May 22, 2017, at Paragould, Arkansas and she survives along with sons Michael Venters and wife Terri of Centralia, IL, James D. Venters and wife Melva of Salem, IL, and Chris Venters of Odin, Il along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing are his step-sons, Tony Burgess of Buford, GA, Brad Burgess and wife Danika of Missouri City, TX, and siblings Albert Venters and wife Darlene of Paragould, Arkansas and Martha Grove of Sandwich, Illinois. In addition to his first wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a son Wayne Venters, a daughter-in-law, and a brother-in-law.
Born July 31, 1940, in Fairfield, Illinois, he was the son of Delbert A. and Esther M. (Canfield) Venters. Jim selected Simple Cremation with no formal service at this time. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s choice and will be received by the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, 310 N.
