2023 01/21 – John Bennet ‘JB’ Krebs

John Bennet “JB” Krebs, age 79 of Carlyle, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Cedarhurst of Breese.

Mr. Krebs was born on April 25, 1943, in Breese, Illinois, the son of the late Raymond A. and Theodell (Crocker) Krebs.  He married Barbara A. Becker on September 5, 1964, and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2018.

Mr. Krebs is survived by his children – Jeffrey (Jan) Krebs, Brent (Amy) Krebs, and Kristin Krebs; his grandchildren – Emily (David) Wagner, Tyler Krebs, John Krebs, Samuel Krebs, Abigail Krebs, Bennet Krebs, Jaedyn Krebs-Carr, Annisyn Krebs-Carr; his great-grandchildren – Sonia Wagner, Sasha Wagner, Cameron Krebs-Garner, Khalil Krebs-Carr, Kasirah Krebs-Carr; and his siblings – Karen Kruep and Kathy Nothaus (Neil).

JB was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Krebs; his parents, Raymond and Theodell Krebs; his brother – Alan R. Krebs (Arlene) and a brother-in-law – Ron Kruep.

JB was a kind, caring, generous and sincere person who devoted his life to his family, faith, and friends.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1382, Carlyle.  JB enjoyed volunteering at the Matthew 25 Food Pantry, and he also enjoyed boating and traveling. Mr. Krebs earned a Master’s Degree from Maryville University and worked as a sales manager for Shell Oil Company for 37 years.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle, with Fr. George Mauck, officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carlyle.  Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday morning from 8:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Krebs are suggested to St. Mary’s Church or to Matthew 25 Food Pantry.  Donations will be received through Zieren Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
