Lawrence Steven ‘Steve’ Tate passed away on January 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital of Centralia.

Lawrence was born on November 6, 1937, in Centralia, Illinois to mother Dora (DeSelms) Tate and father Ivan Tate. He married Mary (Bailey) Tate on September 28, 1958, in Salem, Illinois.

Lawrence is survived by Daughter Shelby Tate of Centralia, son Dennis Tate of Centralia, Brothers Otis Tate and wife of Centralia, Rodney and Marilyn Tate of Centralia, Lewis Tate of Centralia, Perry Tate of Salem, Tommy and Louise Tate of Junction City; sisters Linda Standley of Sandoval, and Betty Tate of Sandoval; sister-in-law Barb Tate of Texas, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; Ivan and Dora Tate, his wife; Mary Tate, and brother; Lester Tate.

Lawrence worked for Depew and Owens for many years. He enjoyed watching wrestling and going fishing in his free time. He enjoyed going to eat at Golden Corral and driving around.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel with service and burial to follow at 11:00 am at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
