Norma Jean Saale, 83, of Sandoval passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at her home.
She was born on December 18, 1939, the daughter of Delbert and Helen Wimberly in Salem. She married Donald P. Saale on November 19, 1955, in Salem, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2000.
Survivors that will remember Norma’s welcoming smile and kindness to all include her beloved family, sons Don Saale Jr. and wife Marianne of Florida, and Daniel Saale of Tennessee; daughter Donna McGehee and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren Anthony, Shelia and fiancé Kevin, Kimberly, Brianna and fiancé Caden and Brittany and husband Bryar; great-grandchildren Lukus, Savannah, Kendall, Oakley, River, and one on the way; and many special nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband of 44 years, Don Saale Sr., Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Wanda Gensler, and Anna Mae Issacs; brothers Lloyd Sanders, and Delbert “Sonny” Wimberly; and great-grandchild Malachi Kyles.
Norma was of the Catholic faith and devoted to her family. She was a tremendous help and a friendly face for the customers who visited Saale’s Service Station in Sandoval where she and her husband operated until 1989 in Sandoval. Norma also worked as a loyal employee for Hollywood Brands Candy Factory in Centralia for 19 years, where she enjoyed good friendships and excellent potlucks. She loved people and everyone she met she treated as a friend. Norma was an amazing cook and made great meals for her family, loving the time that her family was gathered around her table. Her home was her happy place and it showed in the time and care she gave to her yardwork and housework. Norma will be deeply missed by all her loved ones, but her memory will never be forgotten.
A Rite of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Rev. Fr. Steven Pautler officiating. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Sandoval. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home in Sandoval. Memorials may be
