Delores Maxine Bevis, 92, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:00 am on January 8, 2023, her residence.
She was born November 30, 1930, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Leslie and Mildred (Crowder) Gibson. Delores married Bill Bevis on September 22, 1951. They were blessed with thirty-seven years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 26, 1989.
Delores is survived by her sons, Trent K. Bevis of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Patrick K. Bevis and wife, Cindy of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Scott K. Bevis and wife, Susan of Harrisburg, Illinois; grandchildren, Elizabeth Angelly and husband, Troy, Christopher Bevis and wife, Jessica, Tiffany Delaney and significant other, Jerod, and Toni Andrews; and great-grandchildren, Rebekka Delaney, Joseff Delaney, Teresa Pender, Raymond Andrews, Teiryn Andrews, Izabel Andrews, Jillian Womack, Ella Angelly, Carter Bevis, and Emery Bevis.
In addition to her parents and husband, Delores was preceded in death by her brother, Sam Gibson and wife, Nancy, and sister, Doris Turner and husband, Ralph.
Mrs. Bevis was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. She loved to quilt and sew. She had worked at the Granada Theater and as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with her son, Scott Bevis officiating. Interment will follow. Hughey Funeral Home at 618-242-3348 or visit hugheyfh.com for further information.
