Richard Dean Jolliff, age 85, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois.

He was born on February 5, 1937, at home in Wamac, Illinois, the son of George E. and Mildred F. (Bushong) Jolliff.  He married Christine Ellen (Weger) White on November 2, 1973, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on November 18, 1996.

Richard is survived by his loyal friends, Larry Mays of Centralia, Illinois, and Mike Simer of Centralia, Illinois; two sisters; nieces; and close friends.

In addition to his loving wife of twenty-three years, Richard was preceded in death by his parents, George Jolliff and Mildred Jolliff, two brothers, and one sister.

Richard was a sociable person, who would visit the eastside McDonald’s Restaurant to drink coffee with his friends in the morning, then he went out to Larry’s shop to visit with Larry and Mike, and he would sometimes go out to the park to visit with those people who were walking by him.  He would also go to Wendy’s or Burger King at times to visit with his friends.  Richard visited food pantries in the community, and he would share the food he received from them with his friends.

Richard was an over-the-road truck driver for Henderson Trucking in Salem, Illinois, for many years.  He earned a driving certificate for driving over five million miles.   He graduated with Centralia High School’s “Class of 1955”.  He lived his whole life in Centralia, Illinois.

It was the wish of Mr. Richard Dean Jolliff to leave this world quietly with no public visitation.  Arrangements are in the care of Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences, or share memories with Richard’s friends and family at www.moranfuneralhome.net.
