Mary Anita (Huff) Johnson, age 93, of Miramar Beach, Florida, and formerly of Bluford, Illinois, passed away on December 30, 2022, in Niceville, FL.
Born March 22, 1929, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, Mary was the daughter of Hershel R. Huff and Myrla V. Woods. She married Eugene W. (Foxy) Johnson on June 4, 1948. They were blessed with forty-seven years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 27, 1995.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Donna (Johnson) Clark and her husband, Steve, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Taylor J. Bandy, and Reed C. Bandy; sisters, Geraldine Scott of Bluford, IL and Joyce Mense of Springfield, IL.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Devin A. Bandy; brother, Marvin Lee Huff; and sisters, Marjorie Claus and Kathleen Smith.
An executive secretary at Illinois Power Company for twenty years, Mary retired in 1976 to be a homemaker and help her husband with their farm. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Bluford, IL. In addition, Mary was President of the United Methodist Women’s Club and active with fundraising for UNICEF. In later years, she moved to the Emerald Coast residing in Miramar Beach, Florida. Mary enjoyed her large garden in Illinois, collecting and restoring antiques, and playing pinochle with friends and family.
Following cremation, a graveside service to inter Mary will be at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois, next to her beloved husband, Eugene.
