2022 12/31 – Marilyn Fowler

Marilyn Fowler, 81, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.

She was born April 15, 1941, in Raleigh, IL, the daughter of William Robert Wiseman and Opal (Barger) Wiseman. She married H. Jay Flanders who passed in 2014. She later married Jerry T. Fowler who passed in September 2010.

Marilyn is survived by one son: Robert J. Flanders of Mt. Vernon, two daughters: Sandra Clanin of Mt. Vernon and Sherry (nee Flanders) Nordman and husband Robert of Centralia, one grandchild: Samantha Clanin, and one special great-nephew: Raymond McIntosh of Eldorado.She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Opal Wiseman and two husbands: H. Jay Flanders and Jerry T. Fowler.

Marilyn was a legal secretary in Chicago for 7 years and an aide at Murray Development Center. She was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon and the Mt. Vernon Historical Society.

Per Marilyn’s wishes, she will be cremated and no public service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Vernon Historical Society and will be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 N.
