Alice J. Dodson, 72, of Centralia passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at her home. She was born on May 16, 1950, the daughter of J.J. “Joe” and Velma (Kelley) Nimmo in Centralia. She married Kenneth E. Dodson in August of 1974, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2017.
Survivors include a host of many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Alice was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Velma Nimmo.
Alice was a faithful employee of the Centralia Correctional Center in the administration offices until her retirement. Her retirement opened the opportunity for Alice to do something she truly loved, aiding grateful clients at the Senior Services of Marion County. Generosity was her middle name as she never missed a way to make someone’s day just a little better. She was the one who consistently sent birthday cards to friends and family, wishing them the best each year. Alice loved traveling with her husband Kenneth, making lasting memories, and enjoyed sharing with others their adventures together. She was a great storyteller and had an amazing, sassy sense of humor that kept everyone laughing. Alice had close family ties and was wonderful at keeping all the little ones entertained during get-togethers. Alice led her life as an example to all to always find reasons to laugh, give with a generous, compassionate heart, and take time to show gratitude for all the little things.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel with John Willis, officiating. Memorials may be made in Alice’s memory to the Senior Services of Marion County or Fireside House Activity Fund and will be accepted for the family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Online condolences and memories of Alice may be shared with the family by visiting www.maczfuneralhomes.com and/or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
